This Portland-based nonprofit is dedicated to protecting immigrant rights through education, community outreach, advocacy, and family support. When I connected with their Executive Director, they needed a website that could effectively communicate their mission while also serving as a fundraising platform to support their vital work in the community.
I worked closely with the Executive Director to gather requirements and understand how the site architecture should reflect their four main service areas. We mapped out the pages needed to showcase their education and rights awareness programs, community outreach efforts, advocacy work, and family support services.
For this project, I chose NextJS with Contentful as the content management system, deployed on Vercel. This tech stack was perfect because it allowed me to build a modern, performant site while giving the nonprofit team the ability to make their own content updates without needing technical knowledge. I used TailwindCSS for styling, which made it easy to create a cohesive design system based around their existing logo and limited brand assets.
One of the primary goals was to create a donation system that could help the organization raise funds for their work. The integrated payment functionality has been a huge success - the site has helped raise over $20,000 for the nonprofit since launch.
The Contentful integration has been particularly valuable because it empowers the team to keep their content fresh and up-to-date. They can easily add new success stories, update program information, and modify their messaging as their work evolves.
Work on the site is ongoing, as we continue to refine features and add functionality based on the organization's growing needs. It's been rewarding to see how a well-designed website can amplify the impact of such important community work.
